Region 2 Arts Council Awards Arts Project Grants

On April 16, 2018 the Region 2 Arts Council Board of Directors awarded $24,675 through their Arts Project Grant program. These grants offer funding for a variety of art projects including costs related to performances or exhibitions, engagement of guest artists, public art projects, and artists-in-residence.

Bagley Area Arts Collaborative received $1,549 to host a Plein Air Painting workshop with artist Dan Mondloch using the grounds of the Clearwater County History Center as the subject matter. (Clearwater County)

Bemidji Concert Series received $2,311 to host the highly acclaimed jazz and pop band Hornheads at Bemidji State University. (Beltrami County)

Bemidji Symphony Orchestra received $2,500 to support “Romantic”, a concert featuring composer Howard Hanson’s Symphony No. 2 with former BSO musician and Bemidji native, Eric Haugen on cello. (Beltrami County)

Bemidji Woodcarvers Club received $2,010 to host the workshop Wildlife Carving with carver Desiree Hajny from October 25 through October 28, 2018. (Beltrami County)

Hubbard County Developmental Achievement Center received $1,305 to create a community-mosaic with artist Marsha Wolff at the Hubbard County Developmental Achievement Center. (Hubbard County)

Nemeth Art Center received $2,500 to support an exhibition of Julie Buffalohead’s paintings and drawings, and Nathanael Flink’s paintings and sculptures from May 3 through July 14. (Hubbard County)

Nemeth Art Center received $2,500 to host a sculptural installation exhibition by former Bush Fellow, Minneapolis-based artist Alexa Horochowski. (Hubbard County)

Northern Light Opera Company received $2,500 to host NLOKids Theater Project, in which Park Rapids and Pine Point area children work together for three weeks on a theater project which includes writing, composing, acting, and singing. (Hubbard County)

Park Rapids Lakes Area Arts Council received $2,500 to host the story-telling competition, the Great American Story, on September 22, 2018. (Hubbard County)

Park Rapids Schools received $2,500 to host A World of Music with Todd Green, a seminar for middle and high school students, and a public performance, on September 25 & 27, 2018. (Hubbard County)

Watermark Art Center received $2,500 to host America's River Re-Explored, an exhibit by contemporary landscape painter Thomas Paquette, including an artist lecture and educational activities. (Beltrami County)
