Job Title: Alternative Delivery of Specialized Instructional Services (ADSIS) Behavior Interventionist

Location: Red Lake Elementary School: Red Lake, MN

Reports to: Red Lake Elementary School Principal and RLSD Special Education Director

Responsible for: Behavioral Management of Students in Grades 1-5 Red Lake Elementary School

Purpose/Scope: The ADSIS Behavior Interventionist is responsible for assisting general education teachers in providing targeted and intensive support for Tier 2 students who have behavioral challenges and therefore are at risk for school success. For 2018/2019, this interventionist will be scheduled to serve students mostly within the classroom with an assigned teacher for one hour for each of the five grade levels according to the RLES' established WIN schedule.

Qualifications:

1. A teaching license in the areas of School Social Worker or School Counselor or Special Education or K-6 Teacher is required in addition to experience working with behavior in an education setting.

2. The candidate should have teaching experience that includes experience with children at risk for academic success.

3. The candidate should possess and demonstrate considerable knowledge of effective and varied teaching strategies, classroom accommodations, modifications, and varied assessment techniques.

4. The candidate must possess knowledge of various methods of data collection and subsequent analysis and interpretation of data to drive appropriate instructional and behavioral interventions.

5. Must possess ability to effectively organize and present information both orally and in writing.

6. Must demonstrate ability to work effectively with parents.

Essential Duties: The ADSIS Behavioral Interventionist will:

1. Collaborate with professional staff and teachers to develop positive behavior interventions and supports for students.

2. Use conflict resolution, de-escalation, intervention and re-direction when addressing student behaviors

3. Provide direct services to identified students that may include academic and behavioral instruction, monitoring behavior management systems and helping students with problem solving strategies.

4. Assist teachers in the identification and development of individualized/behavioral interventions intended to change behavior, using evidence based strategies to change behaviors.

5. Support teachers in collecting required documentation for activities to include appropriate analysis of student progress, planning for and implementing behavior plans, conducting data collection and communicating with parents.

6. Assist teachers in the development of instructional materials, accommodations, modifications, and assessments needed for students who are educated in the general education classroom setting.
