SKYWARN CLASS OFFERED

The Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office, Division of Emergency Management will be holding a Skywarn class on Thursday, May 24th, 2018 at the Beltrami County Law Enforcement Center’s Emergency Operations Center at 613 Minnesota Ave NW at 6:30 PM.

Skywarn was developed by the National Weather Service in the early 1970’s to equip the public and emergency responders with training in the detection of severe weather and how to effectively and efficiently report severe weather to the National Weather Service. Skywarn spotters provide real-time information to the National Weather Service that assists in forecasting and the warning decisions during severe weather.

Class attendees will be provided with the National Weather Service Field Spotter’s Guide and view a multi-media presentation on severe weather. Anyone with an interest in weather or becoming a contributing Skywarn spotter is invited to attend. The 2.5 hours class is free and open to the public. There are no pre-requisites to attend. If you have any questions, please contact Beltrami County Emergency Management Director Christopher Muller.
