Bemidji Pioneer: Leech Lake teams bring home trophies

CASS LAKE -- The Leech Lake Tribal College Laker basketball teams recently concluded their 2017-18 seasons playing in Northern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and American Indian Higher Education Consortium tournaments, with the men and women victorious in both events.

The Leech Lakers men’s team ranked second in the regular season with a 10-2 record. The Lakers faced NIAC rival Turtle Mountain Community College in the opening round of the playoffs, winning 77-53 to advance to the second round. Josh LaDuke led the team with 27 points. Kevin Hanks led the Lakers on the boards with 12 rebounds.
