JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
ACCOUNTS PAYABLE SPECIALIST
ACCOUNTING DEPARTMENT

PRIMARY FUNCTION
To provide accounting service by performing accounts payable, cash disbursements, preparing invoices, travel advance, vouchers, deposits, and other duties for efficient performance. Reports to Director of Finance, full-time position with benefits, salary; DOQ.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
• Responsible for all accounts payable and cash disbursements for the General Fund, Worker's Compensation and Educational Activities fund
• Prepares all invoices to be paid and enters into the computer on a daily basis
• Prepares all travel advance requests and travel close-outs that are turned into the Accounting Office and maintains employee files for current driver's license and vehicle insurance
• Prepares monthly bank reconciliations for accounts
• Assists Accounts and Data Processing Manager with financial records when needed
• Prepares receipt vouchers and makes deposits when necessary
• Maintains vendor files for all disbursement and receipt vouchers
• Responsible for coding and entering data into computer for disbursements, receipts and general journal entries
• Responsible for maintaining current checkbook balances for all accounts
• Maintains postage meter, keeps current postage balance and refills postage when low
• Attends training to keep abreast of current financial management
• Performs other duties as assigned
EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
• GED/High School Diploma
• Two (2) year experience in accounting
• Knowledge of various calculating and posting machines
• Knowledge of computers using various software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel)
• Ability to perform a variety of duties, ranging from direct involvement in report analysis to coordination of accounting procedures with other departments
• Must be familiar with confidentiality rules and regulations
• Employment contingent upon successfully passing Pre-Employment Drug/Alcohol Test
