Defending 8A Champions Red Lake Warriors advance in Section 8A Tournament with 100-76 win over Blackduck - P22

RED LAKE - The defending 8A Champions Red Lake Warriors, for the last 4 years, advance in the Section 8A Tournament with their 100-76 win over Blackduck on Thursday night. They will play Cass Lake on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 3:30 PM at the REA in Thief River Falls. Cass Lake, #1 in Section 8A, are also ranked #4 in the state. They beat the Warriors both times they met this year.

Red Lake came out of the gate fast paced but saw Blackduck take a 4-point lead before they could get on the scoreboard themselves. They ended up taking the lead and that exchanged a few times with both teams moving right along.

That fast pace went on in the first half, but at the end Red Lake led by 8, 54-46, with Kendall Whitefeather hitting 15 points.

In the second half the Warriors continued the pace and extended their lead as more time went off the clock, winning by 24 points, 100-76, and allowing them to advance in Section 8A.

There were 5 Warriors in double figures. Kendall Whitefeather led Red Lake with 24 points, D. J. Holthusen hit for 21, Evan Johnson added 15, Cole Cobenais had 14 and Andre Harrison connected for 13.

Dylan Moen led the Drakes with 24, Kobe Arp had 17, Shawn Obrian hit for 12 and Mark Kingbird Jr. added 10.

Red Lake improved to 13-13 on the season, while Blackduck ended their season at 10-17.
