WATER QUALITY TECHNICIAN

SANITATION

Open: March 15, 2018

Closing: April 13, 2018 @ 3:00 p.m.

Primary Function:

Responsible to perform required Water Quality tasks in and at homes/businesses on the Red Lake Public Drinking Water Systems as well as homes on individual wells within the reservation boundaries. Reports to Director, full-time position with benefits, salary; $16.00 hourly.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties:

• Water Sampling/Testing

• Data Collection and Recording

• Water Information Specialist

• Instruction and Procedural help in Well Disinfection

• Well Head Inspection

• In-home Water Treatment System Maintenance

• Septic Inspections

• Communications with Public on best Practices and Troubleshooting Softener and Point-of-Use Filtration Systems

• All other tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

• Valid Class D MN Driver's License and clean driving record

• An Associate Degree in Chemistry, Biology or closely related field

• One (1) year experience performing routine laboratory tests in a chemical, bacteriological or public health laboratory

• Ability to effectively communicate (Oral/Written) with the public and other employees

• Ability to read and comprehend instructions on procedures and primacy recommendations on sampling/testing, safety, etc.

• Excellent Math and Computer Skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience to properly sample and closely follow protocols/instructions

• Experience to project a professional appearance and adequately communicate homeowner instruction on testing follow-up, risks associated with specific contaminants, and existing practices and steps already occurring to ensure their drinking water safety

• Ability to operate a phone, computer, and other general office equipment

• Experience in Water Test Kits

• Work weekends and holidays, be on call and respond to calls during non-work hours

• Occasionally would work in high, precarious places and will be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme heat/cold

• Lift objects ranging from 10-50+ pounds

• Employment contingent upon successfully passing Pre-Employment Drug/Alcohol Test and Background Check
