The College of St. Scholastica Sets Plans for its Sixth Annual Day of Giving on Thursday, March 22

Successful 24-hour online campaign has raised more than $300,000 since it began

DULUTH, MINNESOTA (March 13, 2018) – The College of St. Scholastica announced today plans for its sixth annual Give to CSS Day on Thursday, March 22, when supporters from Duluth and around the globe can join in a special 24-hour online initiative to strengthen current programs and enable new opportunities for the benefit of a diverse student population.

St. Scholastica, which is in its 106th academic year, raised more than $100,000 through last year’s event and organizers hope to top that this time around. Since its inception, Give to CSS Day has raised $314,000 to support the College in a number of ways.

“Since this initiative has begun we have seen both the number of donors and the amount donated increase,” said Del Case, St. Scholastica’s Interim Vice President for College Advancement, “The feedback we have received from alumni is that this an excellent way to support the college in a very fast and easy way to support our current and future students.”

With enrollment near 4,400 students at the College, the need for continued support is also elevated. Whether its traditional undergraduate students or graduate students who study online, The College of St. Scholastica is a place where learning and adhering to the Benedictine values of the college are accessible to all.

“Much of our alumni are now out in the world making a difference. This day allows these graduates to see how the campus is thriving and how their financial support will help us remain a thriving location for higher learning,” said Case. “The overwhelming feedback we hear is that this day of giving meets the needs of those donors who give back what they can to make this college the best it can be for now and the future.”

The day of online giving supports everything from classroom equipment to financial aid, to keeping the lights on. Donations of all sizes are gladly accepted on Give to CSS Day.

“We believe strongly that this format of online giving connects our friends and alumni in way that meets them where they are,” says Case. “Each dollar raised will do its part to entice future students to choose to attend CSS and thus enhance our school culture with their talents and passions for learning.”
