East Sub-Section 8A Championship (at TRF) – Win-E-Mac 38 vs. Cass Lake-Bena 63
The Cass Lake-Bena Panthers outscored the Win-E-Mac Patriots 36-13 in the second half to pull away for the win and the East Sub-Section 8A championship.
The Panthers will face the Ada-Borup Cougars on Friday, March 16th in Thief RIver Falls (7:00 pm on 106.5 FM) for the Section 8A championship and a berth in the State Tournament.
Cass Lake-Bena led 27-25 at halftime but used a 16-2 run in the second half to help lead them to the victory.
The two teams had met once during the regular season with Cass Lake-Bena winning at Win-E-Mac 81-64 on December 12th.
Arnold Kingbird led Cass Lake-Bena with 15 points as the Panthers won their 15th straight game and improved to 28-1 overall.
Freshman Gavin Walker led Win-E-Mac with 15 points as the Patriots end their season at 17-12. Win-E-Mac turned the ball over 34 times compared to 13 turnovers for Cass Lake-Bena. Win-E-Mac will graduate six seniors in Mikah Olson, Jay Parenteau, Emelian Hanson, Bryce Neubert, Blake Glass and Noah Bergman.

Ada-Borup has moved one step closer toward their first section title since 2009 with the 65-54 victory over Fertile-Beltrami.
The Cougars, now 23-4 play Cass Lake Bena Friday night in Thief River Falls.
Cass Lake and Ada-Borup will play for the Section 8A Championship on Friday, March 16, 2018 at the REA in Thief River Falls, MN, with the winner advancing to the Minnesota State Class A Tournament.
