The Clinical Nurse positions are located in the Emergency Room (ER) Department at Red Lake Service Unit Hosptial, Red Lake, MN. The Clinical Nurse performs a variety of nursing care procedures and treatments for urgent or emergency services to a variety of patients. This position reports to the Director of Nursing, Red Lake Service Unit.
The IHS is required by law to give absolute preference to qualified applicants who meet the Secretary of the Interior's definition of Indian for appointment to vacancies within the IHS in accordance with established IHS policy as outlined in the Indian Health Manual Part 7, Chapter 3. Responsibilities
Assesses all patients presenting for emergency care and triage based on history, physical assessments and chief complaint. Initiates resuscitative and life or limb saving diagnostics, medications, and treatments based on standing orders and acceptable professional care guidelines.
Administers therapeutic measures as prescribed by the physician such as medications, treatments, intravenous fluids, blood transfusions, nasogastric tubes and other diagnostic interventions.
Provides nursing services to meet the physical, emotional, spiritual and socio-cultural needs of the critically ill patient and family.
Operate and monitor specialized equipment.
Collaborates with members of the multi-disciplinary team in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating health care.
