South St. Paul band teacher resigns amid allegations

South St. Paul’s middle and high school band teacher resigned last month amid allegations involving a former student.

South St. Paul police are investigating “an incident of suspicious behavior” involving the former student and teacher Andrew Peterson, South St. Paul Police Chief Bill Messerich said in an email in response to a request for information by the Pioneer Press under the Minnesota Data Practices Act. The incident was reported Nov. 12 but allegedly occurred several years ago, according to Messerich.
