Red Lake School Board has Annual Board Reorganizational Meeting

RED LAKE – The Red Lake School Board held their annual Board Reorganizational Meeting on Monday, January 8, 2018 at the Administration Headquarters at 2 PM.

Members present were Michal Barrett, Chris Jourdain, Barb Thomas and Jack Desjarlait. Roy Nelson and Tina Stately were absent from the meeting.

Michael Barrett was nominated and elected as Board Chairman again this year, along with Barb Thomas for Clerk, Roy Nelson as Treasurer and Chris Jourdain as Vice-Chairman.

The dates for meetings was also set with a change from last year. The meeting days will remain the same, the third Wednesday of the month, but the time will be changed to 5 PM rather than 2 PM, and will be reviewed after 3 months.

Board compensation was also set at $16,000 per year plus health insurance coverage, Kennedy & Graven were designated as the District's legal counsel, the Bemidji Pioneer and Red Lake Nation News were designated as official news services and the official depositories were designated to the Minnesota School District Liquid Asset Fund, First National Bank of Bemidji and First State Bank of Clearbrook.

A discussion was also held on the Red Lake Boy's Basketball Team coaching staff.

The next Regular School Board Meeting is scheduled for 5 PM Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at the Administration Headquarters Board Meeting room.
