THURSDAY MORNING...

* WHAT...Snow and blowing snow possible. Plan on difficult travel

conditions, including during the morning commute on Thursday.

Total snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches with locally higher

amounts possible. Some freezing rain or sleet could also mix in

at the start of precipitation.

* WHERE...Portions of central, north central, northwest and west

central Minnesota.

* WHEN...From Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Winds gusting as high as 35 mph will

cause areas of blowing and drifting snow. Cold wind chills as

low as 30 below zero will cause frostbite in as little as 30

minutes to exposed skin.

freezing rain or sleet at the start of precipitation is also

possible.

northeast and southeast North Dakota.

* WHEN...From Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning.

NORTHEAST WISCONSIN...

.A band of snow is expected to push into the area late Wednesday

afternoon and evening. There could be a period of freezing rain

and sleet with the onset of the snow. Snowfall accumulations of 4

to 7 inches is possible for portions of east central Minnesota and

northwest Wisconsin, with lighter amounts to the northwest and

southeast. Travel conditions may become difficult Wednesday

evening and continue through Thursday as this storm moves across

the area.

CENTRAL MINNESOTA...

.A band of snow is expected to push into western Minnesota

Wednesday evening while another one develops late Wednesday night

further east from south central Minnesota to northwest Wisconsin.

A narrow swath of up to 7 inches is possible somewhere from the

New Ulm/Mankato areas northeast to east central Minnesota and

northwest Wisconsin. Outside of this narrow corridor, 2 to 4

inches are expected by Thursday afternoon.

Strong northwest winds will develop late Wednesday night and

continue through Thursday. The strongest winds will be found from

west central to south central Minnesota where winds could gust to

40 mph. This will result in widespread blowing snow and possible

whiteout conditions.

A Winter Storm Watch is in effect late Wednesday night through

Thursday for most of central and southern Minnesota and west

central Wisconsin.

Dakota, west central and northwest Minnesota.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday

A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for Wednesday afternoon through

mid morning Thursday across portions of northwest Minnesota and

west central Minnesota. Snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches are

expected with locally higher amounts possible, and some freezing

rain or sleet could also mix in at the start of precipitation.

Blowing and drifting snow will also be possible and could make

travel difficult.

Arctic air will bring dangerous wind chills Wednesday night

through next Monday.
