Practicing shamans look very little like the pictures I found on Google after searching for "pictures of shaman." The reality is usually a guy from suburban California, a former engineer with glasses wearing a cotton poplin shirt, face a little grainy through the compromised resolution of Skype’s interface. After multiple near-death experiences in his youth, plus sporadic bouts of astral projection, Rasmussen found shamanism in his early 20s, and now people literally seek him out in their dreams.
