Lady Warriors advance in NCTC Tournament with 76-40 win over Red Lake County Central

THIEF RIVER FALLS - The Red Lake Lady Warriors had no trouble in the first round of the NCTC Holiday Tournament on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, scoring first and never looking back.

Red Lake led 41-19 at the half, and although they were getting out-rebounded, the full court press caused a lot of turnovers for Red Lake County Central, 46 of them to be exact, and they cruised to a 76-40 victory.

It was their 6th win of the season (6-0).

Alexis Desjarlait led Red Lake with 27 points and 10 rebounds on the night, Angel McClain added 25, Autumn Holthusen hit 2-three pointers for 6 points and Gericka Kingbird had 5 Points.

Julia Bernstein and Jenna Pahlen each had 16 for RLCC, and Pahlen had 10 rebounds on the afternoon.

The Lady Warriors will play Stephen-Argyle on December 14th at 6:30 PM in the championship semi-finals, as Stephen-Argyle defeated Goodridge/Grygla 77-34 in their match.

Last year Stephen-Argyle defeated the Lady Warriors 65-64 in the championship game at the NCTC Holiday Tournament, a game that saw Stephen-Argyle leading by 10 in the first half and Red Lake coming back to lead 35-33 at the half. Then, Red Lake led by 10 themselves in the second half, only to see Stephen-Argyle chip back and take the lead by 1 point after a freethrow with 2.3 seconds left on the clock. Grace White inbounded to Samantha Roy, and her shot at the buzzer hit the rim a couple of times but would not go in.

That loss was Red Lake's first of the year, as they went to 6-1.
