Joseph Johns Jr., 84, Bear Clan, of Red Lake, MN began his journey to the Spirit World on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at the Sanford Bemidji Medical Center in Bemidji, MN.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm, on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Red Lake, MN. A wake will begin at 2:00pm, Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at the Red Lake Community Center in Red Lake, MN, and will continue until the time of the service at the Church. Interment will be at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Red Lake, MN, following cremation. Arrangements are with the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji.

He was born on December 14, 1932, in Red Lake, MN, the son of Frank and Philomene (Lajeunesse) Johns. He grew up in Red Lake, MN. He worked at the Red Lake Mill in Redby as a truck driver and also drove for another company. He later worked for the MN DOT Road Department for 30 years until his retirement. He logged in the woods on weekends, and liked to hunt and fish. In his retirement years he enjoyed traveling to different casinos with his wife, and going to the fitness center to work out.

He is survived by his: Son, Bruce (Kristie) Johns of Red Lake, Daughters Cherilyn Johns of Minneapolis, and Mellisa (Perkins) Kingbird of Bemidji, Step-Children Michelle Johns, Simone (Zonce) Johns, and Nicole Johns all of Red Lake, Sister Geraldine (Dutch) Brun of Red Lake, Brothers Lawrence (Judith) Lajeunesse of Red Lake, and Arnold Lajeunesse of Bemidji, numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary (Fadie Brun) Johns, children Shirley Johns, Janice Bradley, Darrell, Harold, William, Russell, Joseph Michael Johns Jr., Angela Robinson, granddaughter Heather Johns, step-children Carla Brun, Michael Johns, step-granddaughter Marilee Brun, sisters Susan Spears, Evelyn "Evie" Spears, Anna Johns, Mary Rose Skinaway, Ramona Lajeunesse, Elizabeth Lajeunesse, brothers Simon "Zeke" Johns, Phillip Johns, Walter Lajeunesse, Edward James LaJeunesse, parents Frank and Philomene Johns.

Honorary Casketbearers will be: Lawrence Lajeunesse, Arnold Lajeunesse, Danny Hart, Donald "Dutch" Brun Sr., Dennis Grimes, Gary Grimes, Harlan Spears, David Skinaway Jr., and Al Lajeunesse Sr.

Active Casketbearers will be: Aaron Johns, Steven Johns, Ronald Graham Jr., Dyllon Johns, William "Will" Johns, Brian Bradley Jr., alternates are Joseph Fairbanks Jr., and Francis Brun III.
