Holiday festivities in full swing at the Chickasaw Cultural Center

SULPHUR, Okla. – A Thanksgiving weekend celebration will serve to kick off the Christmas season at the Chickasaw Cultural Center, 867 Cooper Memorial Road.

Thanksgiving Celebration, Nov. 25-26

In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, the Chickasaw Cultural Center will be closed noon Wednesday, Nov. 22, through Friday, Nov. 24 to allow staff to spend time with family.

After enjoying a hearty meal on Thanksgiving Day, be sure to gather your family and attend the Chickasaw Cultural Center’s Thanksgiving Celebration Saturday, Nov. 25, and Sunday, Nov. 26.

Special activities will include a Native American miniature ornament class and a children’s Christmas ornament workshop. Activities in the Traditional Living Village will include stomp dances, stickball and other cultural activities.

Special sales will be available in the gift shop. Traditional cuisine and daily specials can be enjoyed at the Aaimpaꞌ Café.

The Thanksgiving Celebration is open to the public at no charge.

Celebration of Lights illuminating cultural center starting Nov. 25

Cruise through the cultural center campus for the dazzling drive-thru light display every evening 6 – 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, through Sunday, Dec. 31.

Dozens of displays featuring traditional Christmas themes and Chickasaw greetings are included in the colorful light display.

The Celebration of Lights display will be open to the public at no charge.

While at the cultural center, visit the Aaittafama’ Room for the impressive Festival of Trees from Saturday, Nov. 25, to Sunday, Dec. 31.

Christmas trees will be decorated by Chickasaw Nation employees to reflect the services they provide in their respective departments. Visitors are encouraged to cast their vote for the best tree.

The nostalgic holiday film “White Christmas” will be screened at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 25, in the Anoli’ Theater. Prices for the showing are $3 for children age 12 and under, $4 for adults or $6 for a movie deal that includes ticket, popcorn and drink.
