4 teens arrested after drug deal gone wrong

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KSFY) - Police say four Sioux Falls teens were arrested Sunday night following a drug deal gone wrong.

Public Information Officer Sam Clemens said a 16 year old and a 19 year old planned to buy marijuana from another 16 year old and a 17 year old in the 200 block of S. Elmwood Avenue around 10:30 p.m.

During the deal, one of the buyers allegedly pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the sellers, Clemens said. A struggle with the gun ensued as the sellers tried to wrestle it away from the buyer, and a shot was fired into the floor.

No one was injured.

After the gunshot, the buyers took off with the marijuana without paying and left the gun behind, Clemens said.

Police found the two sellers walking and recovered the handgun. The two buyers were found in a home in the 200 of N. Spring Avenue.

The teens were arrested by police on the following charges according to Clemens:

- The 19-year-old buyer, Kalup Collins Provancial, was charged with first degree robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm with an altered serial number and possession of stolen property.

- The 16-year-old buyer was charged with first degree robbery and aggravated assault.

- The 17-year-old seller was charged with possession of a firearm with an altered serial number, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and paraphernalia.

- The 16-year-old seller was charged with possession of a firearm with an altered serial number.

Police discovered the gun used during the deal was a.45 caliber handgun that had been stolen out of an unlocked vehicle outside a restaurant on N. Minnesota Avenue on Friday night, even though the serial number was partially gone.

Clemens said Provancial brought the gun to the drug deal, but it is unclear at this time if he was the person who stole it.
