Hall of Fame Nominations Accepted Now

A Medal of Honor recipient, an astronaut, U.S. Congressmen, renowned artists and authors are among those who have been inducted into the Chickasaw Nation Hall of Fame.

Nominations of outstanding individuals to join this distinguished group as members of the 2018 Hall of Fame class are now being accepted.

Nominees both living and deceased are eligible for this prestigious honor. Nominees must have distinguished themselves in their business, profession, craft or vocation, thereby bringing honor to the Chickasaw Nation, impacting fellow Chickasaw citizens or the community on a local or national level.

Induction into the Chickasaw Hall of Fame is the highest honor that can be bestowed upon a Chickasaw citizen by the Chickasaw Nation.

The class of 2017 Chickasaw Nation Hall of fame inductees were a dedicated servant-leader, Mary Jo (Thomas) Green; an international tribal attaché, M. Franklin Keel; a renowned tribal legal scholar, Kevin Washburn; a respected statesmen, Holmes Tuttle; and the first and only Chickasaw citizen to receive the Medal of Honor, Lt. Colonel Raymond Harvey.

Inductees must be citizens of the Chickasaw Nation or be eligible to become citizens of the Chickasaw Nation. Nominees are not required to live in Oklahoma.

Chickasaw Nation elected officials and current employees of the Chickasaw Nation are not eligible for induction into the Chickasaw Nation Hall of Fame while holding office or employed.

Each inductee is honored with a plaque in the Chickasaw Nation Honor Garden, located on the Chickasaw Cultural Center campus in Sulphur, Oklahoma. The Chickasaw Nation Honor Garden is an original design inspired by the four directions and incorporates spiral symbols indicative of traditional Chickasaw culture.

Nomination forms are available at Hof.chickasaw.net.

Nominations are due to the Chickasaw Nation Department of Culture and Humanities by 5 p.m., Friday, Dec. 8, 2017.
