Reinsurance done, Republicans join Democrats in fighting for MinnesotaCare money

After Gov. Mark Dayton signed Minnesota’s reinsurance waiver from the federal government Monday, Republican leaders joined the Democratic governor in fighting against the fiscal penalty the feds want to charge Minnesota for the privilege.

“Gov. Dayton’s action on our federal waiver today was the right thing to do for the thousands of Minnesota families facing huge increases in their health insurance premiums. We appreciate his cooperation in this bipartisan reinsurance bill and share his concerns about ongoing funding for MinnesotaCare,” Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka, a Republican from near Nisswa, said.
