Statement from Commissioner Hardy on Amazon Project

The statement below is from Commissioner Shawntera Hardy regarding this afternoon's meeting with Governor Dayton and Greater MSP on Amazon's announced plans to build a second headquarters in North America.

“This afternoon, Governor Dayton and I met with Greater MSP CEO Michael Langley to review the state’s proposal for the Amazon HQ2 project. The proposal is near its final form and includes a number of qualified sites throughout the region.

“In the meeting, Governor Dayton, Mr. Langley and I reviewed the entire proposal to ensure that Minnesota’s unique story is one that will encourage Amazon to seriously consider this region for the project. The criteria Amazon set out in its RFP are all areas where Minnesota excels. We are confident that what we send to Amazon will be competitive and will bring Minnesota closer to landing this project.

“Our next steps will be to formally submit Minnesota’s proposal to Amazon before October 19. We have no concerns meeting that deadline and will provide an update once we have officially submitted our proposal.”
