Babaamaajimowinan (Telling of news in different places)
BEMIDJI, MN – The Miikanan Gallery is seeking Indigenous artists and writers to submit work to be considered for exhibition at their grand opening event in the Watermark Art Center. All forms of art will be considered, including photography, painting, fiber art, mixed media, poetry, sculpture and more. The exhibit, titled Aazhoomon, is tentatively scheduled to open November 2017.
Submitted work should reflect the title of the exhibition. They are seeking broad interpretations of the following concept:
Converge: Come from different directions and meet.
Convergence: The point of converging; a meeting place. A crossroads.
Deadline to submit work is August 28. Submissions should be sent through the art center’s website, watermarkartcenter.org.
