RED LAKE—Red Lake's Tribal Council broke ground Monday on a new store officials hope will keep dollars on the reservation.
The 26,803-square-foot, $10.2 million dollar supermarket has been in the works since 2013 and will replace Red Lake Foods, the reservation's much smaller grocery store. Justin Beaulieu, the CEO of Red Lake's Ogaakaanig Enterprises, said the new store will give tribal members access to more produce and help stimulate the reservation's economy.
