David Louis Mountain, 62, of Red Lake, died unexpectedly Thursday, July 6, 2017 in his home. He was born on February 25, 1955 in Red Lake to Antoine Mountain and Alberta Spears. He had lived in the Twin Cities for many years until moving back to Red Lake in the late 1990's. David attended school in St. Paul. In earlier years, he had attended St. Mary's Mission in Red Lake. He was a peacetime veteran of the U.S. Army. David was a very private person, who kept almost everything to himself, about his own life. His entire life was devoted to raising his children in the right way. He truly enjoyed spending time with his children and he liked to play Bingo. David loved his work at Seven Clans Casino and liked to visit and joke with coworkers and friends. He enjoyed helping people and would not accept payment for his work.

Those he leaves behind to treasure his memory are his mother, Alberta Jackson; daughter, Raelynn "Rae" Mountain; son, Clyde Mountain; brothers, Harold (Alice) Spears, Virgil (Shannon Timm) Mountain, Greg Mountain, Francisco Mountain, and Tony Mountain; sisters, Diane (Jose Horacio Chavez) Mountain and Antonette Mountain; step-brother, Lauren French; step-sister, Valerie French; very close lifelong friend, Tim (Leslie) Stone and many nieces and nephews.

Those he is reunited with are his father, Antoine Mountain; brother, Arlen Mountain; sister, Arlette Mountain and grandparents, Nellie and Robert Spears, John Mountain and Eva Johnson.

An overnight wake for David will begin at 2:00 PM Sunday, July 9, 2017 at the Little Rock Center, Red Lake. A Funeral Service will begin at 10 AM Monday, July 10, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Red Lake, with a visitation beginning at 9 AM Monday at the church. Father Jerry Rogers will officiate. Burial will follow the funeral at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Those helping lay David to rest are Tim Stone, Tony Mountain, Lauren French, Virgil Mountain, Adrian Oman and Wayne Clark. Honorary pallbearers will be Alaura May, Roma Ryan, Mario Mountain, John Spears and Orville Johnson.
