Mahnomen and Waubun will co-op for winter sports in 2017-18 school year, all sports in 2018-19

MAHNOMEN, Minn. -- One of the winningest football programs in Minnesota high school football will be co-oping with one of the more recent successful football programs, as Mahnomen and Waubun will co-op in all sports for the 2018-19 school year. The programs will co-op in boys and girls basketball for the 2017-18 school year.

Waubun-Ogema-White Earth School Board voted 6-1 Wednesday, June 14, while Mahnomen School Board had voted unanimously. There will be a rebranding of the colors, mascot and name of the co-op before the 2017-18 basketball season. The plan is to have both student bodies and communities come up with and vote on colors, a mascot and a name for the co-op.
