Position Title: Transportation Coordinator

Supervisor: Business Manager

Terms: 12 month employee

Qualifications: High School Diploma or G.E.D., Applicable laws, rules and regulations, hiring practices and procedures, evaluation procedures and discipline policies, safety practices, Basic mechanical repair, communication, personal appearance, cooperative attitude, demonstrated computer and applicable software skills, organizational/ prioritizing work and demonstrated professional and ethical practices. Must have a current bus license endorsement or obtain one within 90 calendar days from the date of hire.

Position Overview (Basic Purpose of Position): To coordinate, plan and supervise the safe and efficient transportation of the District's students.

How will you know the job is done?

1. Develop and schedule all bus routes, student stops, and prepare maps for each route.

2. Supervise and direct transportation employees. Train, evaluate, and recruit employees.

3. Answer questions, resolve complaints and distribute information from the community or public.

4. Complete student discipline referrals appropriately and accurately from Principals discipline policies.

5. Investigate and report school bus/vehicle accidents.

6. Prepare and maintain annual transportation budget and allocate resources.

7. Develop and maintain transportation procedures.

8. Investigate weather conditions and communicate with Superintendent to determine school closing decisions.

9. Enforce school bus safety and discipline polices.

10. Ensure all school vehicles and buses are well maintained as per district policy/procedure.

11. Ensure Bus Garages are clean and safe environments for staff.

12. Ensure transportation employees follow work place safety rules and regulations.

13. Teach elementary students school bus safety and evacuation as required by state statute/regulation.

14. Develop, in coordination with Business Manager an annual budget.

15. Write specifications bus bids.

16. Maintain inventory records for bus/vehicle fleet and fuel sage.

17. Maintain records required by Federal/State agencies, including completion of the annual report.

18. Verify and approve time sheets for Transportation personnel.

19. Maintain extra-curricular bus driver rotation.

20. Maintaining confidentiality

21. Serve as a substitute bus driver

1. Bus routes are scheduled efficiently and effectively; parents are notified of bus pickup time each year and when adjustments are made to the time

2. Supervision is performed and employees are properly trained.

3. Employees are engaged and motivated.

4. Information is communicated at all levels.

5. Disciplinary referrals are followed.

6. Vehicles are maintained and properly logged.

7. Bussing needs are meet, internally and through contracted services.

8. Information on poor road conditions are communicated with Superintendent.

9. Bus safety is trained and enforced.

10. Manuals, bulletins and guides are up to date and available.

11. Policies and procedures are current.

12. Annual budgets are completed.

13. Capital equipment, tools and supplies are accurately maintained.

14. Records are current and accurate.

15. Time is approved in a timely fashion.
