12th Annual Youth Leadership Conference kicks off in Red Lake - P7

RED LAKE - The 12th Annual Youth Leadership Conference kicked off in Red Lake on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at the Red Lake High School.

Presentations and workshops began about 9 AM on Wednesday morning and would run until 3 PM each day. Some topics included cultural identity, self-esteem, complacency and being self-driven and motivation and inspiration.

A walk against meth and heroin took place at 3:30 PM, followed by entertainment at 6 PM, which included a fashion show, comedy and a hypnotist.

In it's twelfth year, the Red Lake Tribal Council, tribal programs and other organizations have sponsored the event for the youth of Red Lake Nation. Red Lake member professionals and well-known guest speakers and performers from across Indian Country have joined together to share their knowledge in leadership skills to motivate youth and to promote native values, tradition, and culture.
