Bemidji Pioneer: One charge dropped, another to be added against Redby man

BEMIDJI—A felony charge against a Redby man who allegedly arranged to meet and have sex with an undercover officer he believed was a child was dismissed Tuesday.

Prosecutors plan to file a different, similar charge against Gary Lee Cobenais, 43. Cobenais was initially charged in February with one count of soliciting a child or someone believed to be a child through electronic communication to engage in sexual conduct. Prosecutor Wyatt Arneson said in court that Cobenais would instead be charged with engaging in electronic communication relating to or describing sexual conduct with a child, also a felony.
