Betty Elaine Beaulieu, 94, of Redby, MN, died Friday, April 21, 2017 at the Red Lake Hospital in Red Lake, Minnesota surrounded by her loving family.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Red Lake, MN with Rev. Raul Perez-Cobo officiating. A wake will begin on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. day at the Redby Community Center and will continue until the day of the service. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Red Lake, MN. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji assisted the family with the arrangements.

Betty was born on August 22, 1922 in International Falls, MN, the daughter of John Fransisco and Eliza Head. She attended school at St. Mary’s Mission School and Boarding School at Flandreau, South Dakota, where she graduated. She was united in marriage to Roman George Beaulieu on December 21, 1944 in Redby, MN.

She worked for many years as a Medical Clerk at Red Lake Hospital, retiring in 1984. She also served on the School Boards for Red Lake High School and St. Mary’s Mission School, as well as on the Kateri Tekakawitha Circle.

Betty loved to go to the Casino and play Bingo, where she earned her name “Betty E. Bingo”. She was an amazing seamstress, and enjoyed crocheting, latch hook, upholstery and embroidery. She was a very involved community member and worked on many community activities. Betty adored and enjoyed each and every one of her grandchildren, and looked forward to going to family outings. She was an excellent baker and liked crafting. Betty helped build her home with Roman and was truly a jack of all trades. Her door was always open to anyone needing help or a place to stay. She was a godmother to many godchildren.

She is survived by her children: Ramona Needham of Redby, MN

Reginald “Roach” (Shirley) Beaulieu, Sr. of Redby, MN

Ronalda “Nellie” (Charlie) Charnoski of Redby

Joyce (Ron) Fowler of Redby, MN

Frank “Mace” Beaulieu of Red Lake, MN

And Randy “Geesh” (Cheryl) Beaulieu of Cass Lake, MN

40 grandchildren, 113 great grandchildren, 57 great great grandchildren, as well as others who called her “Grandma” .

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roman Beaulieu, Sr.; her sons, Roman “Qweetie” Beaulieu, Jr. and William “Bill” Beaulieu; her infant son, Randolph Beaulieu; her parents, Eliza Berard Head and John Francisco; her step father, Selam Head; her sister, Roberta McKenzie; and her brothers, Robert Head and Ronald Head.

Honorary Casketbearers will be Ethel Smith, Hilda Cook, Thern Hegstrom, Viola Cournoyer, Joan Nelson, Sister Phillip, Sister Marina, Sister Stephen, Betty Schoenborn, Ruth Beaulieu, Judy Roy, Lynette Tyler, Lisa Thomas, Dorothy Cobernais, Almeda Lussier, Cherilyn Spears, Judy Lussier, Karen Ramirez, Mary Ellen Cook, Diane Beaulieu, Connie Beaulieu, Debbie Beaulieu, Phyllis Gurno, Darilyn Spears, Mary Charnoski, Lucy Barrett, Ethel Pemberton, Jan Head, Rocky Prentice, Winnie Juarez, and Lance Hart.

Active Casketbearers will be Donnie Needham, Maushie Needham, Charlie Charnoski Jr., Ray Charnoski, Reggie “Beebles” Beaulieu, Rob Charwood, Kevin Beaulieu, and Ron McKenzie.
