Counselor – Indian & Free Drug Prevention/Treatment Program

CHEMICAL HEALTH PROGRAMS/CHILDREN'S HEALING WELLNESS CENTER

Open: March 31, 2017 - UNTIL FILLED

Primary Function:

Responsible to work with youth who have committed a juvenile offense, have drug or substance abuse problem, and have been referred to Children's Healing Wellness Center. Reports to the Children's Healing Wellness Center Director and Chemical Health Program Executive Director; full-time position w/benefits, salary DOQ.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties:

• Assist clients in the development of treatment plans, goals and make periodic revisions when necessary

• Attend and participate in all scheduled HWC youth and family meetings

• Responsible for maintaining/updating youth client files for the official record, ensuring all information is complete and accurate

• Communicates with the Healing to Wellness Court regarding youth behavior/progress, special needs, compliance with orders of the HWC and expectations of youth while participating in the Healing to Wellness Court

• Responsible for developing a holistic case management plan

• Responsible for documenting/monitoring the HWC case plan for the youth and family

• Prepare youth Progress Reviews, and other reports as ordered by the HWC

• Responsible to plan/coordinate bi-weekly follow up sessions with the youth and family

• Knowledgeable of addiction, alcoholism, and pharmacology

• Conduct lectures, individual, group and family counseling sessions on scheduled days

• Make proper referrals for the best interest of the client

• Act as a mediator to develop resources and improve interagency linkages

• Conduct Rule 25 assessments

• Maintain strict confidentiality

• Manage participants' journeys through the healing process by serving as role model, monitor, mentor, and motivator

• Other duties as may be assigned

Qualifications:

• Must have at least one (1) year sobriety

• Must have a High School diploma or GED

• Must be willing become a Certified Rule 25 Assessor

• Must have a valid driver's license and auto insurance

• Refrain from mood-altering chemicals and submit to mandatory alcohol & drug testing

Preferred:

• At least one (1) year counseling experience

• Knowledge of 12 – step AA Program

• Employment contingent upon successfully passing Pre-Employment Drug/Alcohol Test and Background Check
