Wiyot Tribe mourns death of 15-year-old

LOLETA, Calif. - The Wiyot tribe is mourning the death of 15-year-old Alex Sherman Lopez after a freak accident at the Eel River on Saturday, March 25.

Lopez was fishing in the Eel River when the tide came in, pushing a tree branch over and trapping him underwater. His brother tried to help him but was unable to. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
