Skywarn was developed by the National Weather Service in the early 1970’s to equip the public and emergency responders with training in the detection of severe weather and how to effectively and efficiently report severe weather to the National Weather Service. Skywarn spotters provide real-time information to the National Weather Service which assists in forecasting and the warning decision during severe weather. Participants will be provided the National Weather Service Field Spotter’s Guide and view a multi-media presentation on severe weather.
