GROWING OJIBWE AND ENGLISH LITERACIES DEMONSTRATION PROJECT

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT/PLANNING-IMMERSION PROGRAM

Open: February 22, 2017 – Until position is filled.

Primary Function:

This employee is responsible for planning and coordinating the primary and intermediate reading and language arts program for 50 students at the Red Lake Middle School. Reports to Coordinator of the Immersion Program, part-time position, salary; DOQ.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

• Coordinating the RLT Growing Ojibwe and English Literacies Demonstration Project school reading and language arts and primary programs both horizontally and vertically at the Red Lake Middle School.

• Assisting all teachers with teaching/learning strategies the promote comprehension in all subject areas.

• Modeling reading and language arts instruction in primary and intermediate classrooms.

• Provide individual and small class EL instruction to 50 students at Red Lake Middle School.

• Coordinating the developmental aspects of the primary and intermediate programs.

• Assisting teachers in assessing students for appropriate instruction.

• Submitting appropriate data and reports.

• Maintaining current and efficient records.

• Interpreting the school's reading/learning program for staff, parents, and members of the Red Lake community.

• Serving as part of the RL wide education committee in developing activities and programs to disseminate information to Red Lake School Administration, Board, and RL Tribal Council.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's Degree in Education

• Three (3) year experience in teaching

• Previous experience with Middle School Programs

• Previous experience in Ojibwe and English Literacies Demonstration

• Must pass DOJ and Band background check

• Must have valid Minnesota Driver's License

• Employment contingent upon successfully passing Pre-Employment Drug/Alcohol Test
