Downwind killer set to be sentenced Thursday

BEMIDJI--The last of three men involved in the October 2015 disappearance and death of Rose Downwind is scheduled to be sentenced today, bringing to a close more than a year of emotionally charged legal proceedings.

Marchello Cimmarusti, 41, is set to receive his sentence at 1 p.m. at the Beltrami County Courthouse. Cimmarusti admitted on Dec. 7, 2015, to killing Downwind, 31, and pleaded guilty to second-degree intentionally murder on April 18 of last year.
