Patricia “Patty” Ann Gale, age 53, “Zhoomiingweni Neniibowa” which means “She Smiles a Lot” of Federal Dam, Minnesota began her spiritual journey from St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth Minnesota on Monday, January 9, 2017.  Patty was born on August 10, 1963 in Cass Lake, MN to Ronald and Della Ann (Robinson) Gale.

Patty was raised in Federal Dam and attended Remer schools.  She graduated from Northland High School in Remer in 1982.  After high school, Patty went to Staples AVTI to become an Administrative Assistant.  She went on to work various administrative jobs.  She was an administrative assistant in Germantown, MD from 1983 to 1986, from 1986-1991 Patty worked for the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe Food Distribution Division, the she worked for the Cass Lake IHS from 1991-1994, she then moved to and worked in Rockville, Maryland from 1994-1998 before returning home to Cass Lake in 1999 to work as the Patient Benefits Advisor for the Cass Lake IHS.  She worked there until her passing.  When she wasn’t working she loved playing softball for “Leech Lake Rez” team.  She was an avid softball player, being team mates with her sister, nieces and friends.  She was the #4 batter and the best left fielder, who could throw them out at first base.  Above all else, she loved spending quality time with her family and friends.

Patty is welcomed to the spirit world by her husband; Samuel Kevin Goose; her parents; Ronald and Della, a sister; Tracy Gale, a brother; Ronald Gale, uncle; Kenneth Gale, nephews; Michael Steven Gale, Markell Morris, Jeremy Jones, Jr. and Baby Chase, and other several other relatives.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters; Desirae Goose and Vanessa Mendoza both of Federal Dam, Dawn (Adrian) and Dawnita Budreau both of Maryland and Sierra Mendoza and Gabrielle Budreau both of California, sisters; Lori Gale and Janice (Scott) Dahman both of Federal Dam, brothers; Troy Bowstring of Deer River and Travis (Jamie Lee Staples) Gale of Cass Lake, grandchildren; Alexia, Makayla, Dakota, Adrian, Adrianna, Veronica, Angela and Ricco, aunties; Lavina (Frank) Marion and Stella Mitchell, uncle; Darrell (Karmen) Gale, step mother; Marilyn Bowstring of Deer River and numerous other family members and many many friends.

An overnight wake for Patty will begin at 5:00 p.m., Friday, January 13th and continue until her 10:00 a.m. traditional service on Saturday, January 14th all being held at the Sugar Point Community Center in Federal Dam.  Steve Jackson will be her Spiritual Advisor.  Leech Lake Nation Drum Group will be providing traditional music.  Pallbearers for Patty will be Steve White, Richard Parker, James Mitchell, Tony “Boz” Boswell, Donald Geving, Shawn Monroe, Steve Dahman, Matthew Gale and Earl Machart.  Her honorary pallbearers are Jewell Desjarlait, Bev Beaulieu, Julie Tucker, Sheri Finn, Hope True, Rena Campbell and Karmen Uecker.  Interment will be in the Battle Point Cemetery at Federal Dam following her service.
