Wesley Delos Creed, was born in Pawnee, OK on January 19, 1936 to John and Gertrude (Longbone) Creed. Wesley had 8 brothers and 2 sisters, an older brother, Lawrence and an older sister, Yleta, as well as 6 younger brothers and one younger sister, Paul David Married to Mildred, Perry, Jehue, Tim Married to Kathy, Joe, Albert, Gary and Mary Elizabeth. The family lived in Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Nashville, Tennessee; Lake Charles, Louisiana; West Lake and Pitkin, Louisiana. As a child, Wes was responsible for hoeing and tending to the garden, he once grew a watermelon so big that his brothers and himself could not carry it, so they put it in a little wagon to get it home. He was additionally responsible for gathering wood for the stove. He went hunting and fishing with his brothers and helped his mother pick wild berries for pies that she would bake for the family. Wes attended Haskell Indian High School and graduated in 1954. Being very athletic, he participated in both football and track. In one of Wesley's years as the quarterback, Haskell had an undefeated football season. During one of those games, having never scored a touchdown, he changed the play the coach called two consecutive times in order to achieve that goal. The next play the coach sent the message that if he changed the play again he would be benched. Against his desire, Wes complied with the coach's orders. During this time, he was classmate and friend to the Mills brothers, Walt and Billy. Billy went on to win the 10,000-meter race in the 1964 Olympics, in Japan. Wes also met Pauline Bellcourt and they married in 1955. When courting, Pauline went down to meet Wes's parents. While there, they rode around on his scooter. Pauline recalls the scooter did not have enough power and she ended up pushing Wes up the Lake Charles's bridge before she got to ride down the other side. After marrying Pauline, he started working at Frost Paint and Oil Corporation, and they had daughters Leslie (Susie) and Deborah as well as a son, Wesley. Then in 1964, they moved to Moab, Utah and he started working for Rockwell at the Green River Airbase and gained top security clearance which he took very seriously. As a member of the Moab Utah Jaycees, Wes was instrumental in restructuring and organizing this local chapter and was presented with an award for his service to the club. In 1968, they moved to Costa Mesa, California where he worked for Celesco Industries. While in Costa Mesa they had a son Daniel. In 1974, they moved to Fort Walton Beach, Florida where he work at Eglin Air Force base. While in Florida, Wes and Pauline adopted their grandson Steven whom they raised as their own. Then in 1976, they moved for a two-year stint to Israel where he worked with the Israeli Defense Forces. After returning to their home in Florida, for a number of years, they moved to Tucson, Arizona in 1981. After 30 years of marriage, Wes and Pauline parted ways in 1985, with the older children already out of the home, Steven stayed with Pauline and Danny after a while joined Wes, who had moved to Birmingham, Alabama. While in Birmingham, he met and married Violet Enslen for a brief period of time before they also parted ways in 1988. After moving to Arab, Alabama, with his son Danny, he began to coach the City of Arab's first soccer team in which they placed 3rd in state, their first year as a team. While coaching his son Danny and the team, he met Donna Bailey (Richard Bailey's mother, also a team member). Wes and Donna married in 1989 and continued to make their home in Arab. Wes and Donna shared their home with their beloved dog, Abby. Wes worked for Hughes Aircraft as well as Raytheon in Huntsville, Alabama before branching out as a private contractor. As a private contractor, he had the opportunity to work for Boeing, and in Alaska at Fort Greely for a number of years. While working there he got to experience the Northern Lights, -60 below weather, while traveling through the state. One of his favorite spots was Delta Junction because it had more things to do than Fort Greely, which was a very remote Military Installation. After Alaska, Wes stuck close to home and worked on various contracts. Throughout Wes's extensive career he has been an electrical engineer on various projects that include planes, rockets, missile guidance systems and even space bound vehicles. He loved what he did, as it also provided opportunities to travel extensively to places around the Mediterranean and the United States. Wes tried to bring his family on most trips but if he wasn't able to bring his family along, he took a lot of pictures. To hear his children retell the story, they would have a hard time staying awake through the long slide shows when he returned home. Wesley was really into stock car and drag racing. The boxes full of trophies tell how good he was and how much he enjoyed it. All of his children have stories of going to the races. Over the years, Wesley put in enough time here and there to obtain his Bachelors Degree in the field of Engineering. In 2010, after 21 years of marriage, Donna lost a multi-year battle to cancer; Wes was well acquainted with the disease as he had battled cancer as well and gone into remission multiple times since 1995. Wes was left exhausted after using every possible resource to fight and care for Donna's health. It was unknowingly, during this time, that Wes's cancer once again reared its ugly head and came back from remission. Leaving Alabama behind, Wes moved to Ogema, Minnesota with his daughter Leslie; traveling and spending time with family and friends while getting to know his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Unfortunately, along with other contributing ailments, the cancer metastasized beyond the original form and after much effort, Wes went to be with our Lord on December 30, 2016. He will be missed and remembered by his remaining family and friends as an adventurous, brilliant, loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, animal lover and mentor to many.
