Norman Charles Jensen

Norman Charles Jensen, 80, of Battle River, MN died December 24, 2016 at his home in Battle Township, MN.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 P.M. on December 31, 2016 at the First Presbyterian Church in Blackduck, Minnesota with Reverend Robert Dahlen officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Cease Family Funeral Home of Blackduck assisted the family with arrangements.

Active Pallbearers will be Kevin Helblad, Gary Eklund, David Gitz, John Coil, Lyle Wallin, and Brett Lessman.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Lyle Lortie, Lyle Fenske, Barney Schuh, Leroy Sutton, Alan Anresen, and Joe Hahn.

Norman was born on August 2, 1936 in Grafton, North Dakota, the son of Samuel and Agnes (Soderstrom) Jensen. He moved with his parents from North Dakota to Guthrie, MN at a young age. He grew up in Guthrie and attended the Guthrie School and Bemidji High School. He married Elaine Marie Hoem on June 21, 1958 in Bemidji, Minnesota. They moved to Goodhue, MN where he worked on a farm from 1958-1962. They then moved to Battle River and farmed Beef cattle and started the business Jensen's Store. They have owned and operated the store since selling groceries, had a tire shop and did shoe repair. In 1975 he sold his Beef cattle and bought Brown Swiss milk cows and began milking until 2000 when he bought Beef cows with his son. He loved horses and anything to do with them. He even used his Belgian Draft horses for logging and farming. He loved his antiques and collectibles, and anything that was unique. He also always liked to be building or fixing something. He liked reading non-fiction books and sharing about a book he had read. He liked telling stories and also joking around with his family and friends.

Norman is survived by his wife, Elaine Jensen of Battle River, MN; his daughter, Barbara Jensen of Battle River; 2 sons, Ed (Nayda) Jensen of rural Blackduck, MN and Mike Jensen of Battle River; his brother, Larry (Paula) Jensen of Longville, MN; 1 granddaughter, Allison; 2 step grandchildren, Jay and Caroline; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Agnes Jensen.
