BSU unveils $1 million student media center

BEMIDJI—BSU media and communications students have a new place to hone their skills before they head out into the world.

University staff unveiled Wednesday a new $1 million student media center that has the look of a professional news outlet's offices and includes a radio broadcast booth, a television studio, a work area for print journalism, a central meeting space and a pair of classrooms.

"We really didn't have a place to study or collaborate other than the library," said Sabrina Okeson, a junior mass communications major. "The media center has given us a home. We have a spot where professors, equipment, and production rooms—with labs that have the correct software—are right down the hall."
