PAWHUSKA — After spending more than six months in jail without a court-appointed attorney, an Osage County man accused of killing his girlfriend is now a free man.
Citing the constitutional right to a speedy trial, Osage Nation Trial Court Judge Marvin Stepson last week granted a motion to dismiss the case against Thomas Mongrain Eaves.
Eaves was arrested in August 2015 in connection with the death of his girlfriend, Star Pennington, on his property east of Pawhuska. Pennington’s body had multiple bruises on her back, legs, arms and head, plus two broken ribs from a recent injury. An autopsy later determined she died from a blow to the head.
