Polly Ann McMaster

Polly Ann McMaster, 62, of Red Lake, MN died Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at the Red Lake IHS Indian Hospital.

Traditional Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Saturday, September 3, 2016 at the Red Lake Community Center with spiritual leaders Frank Dickenson and Wanda Baxter. A wake will begin on Thursday afternoon at the Red Lake Center and will continue until the time of the service. Interment will be at the St. John's Episcopal Cemetery. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji assisted the family.

Polly was born June 24, 1954 in Red Lake, MN the daughter of David Chaboyea and Ida (Rossbach) Dickenson. She was raised and educated in Red Lake, Minneapolis, and attended Art School in Canada. She married Gerald McMaster, they later divorced. She was a board member and driving force of Red Lake Rosie's Rescue, Inc. She was an avid animal rescuer. Polly's eyes would light up whenever she saw a baby or an animal. She fed all the stray dogs in the neighborhood. On cold nights, she opened her home to them. She was a recipient of the prestigious Angel Award from the Minnesota neuter/Spay Program in 2013. She is at peace now after a long battle with cancer. Just imagine all the animals waiting to greet her at the Rainbow Bridge. Polly was blessed with the most vivacious and loving spirit. Polly received her spirit name from Wallace Black Elk during the occupation of Wounded Knee in 1973, "Sacred Water". She enjoyed sharing her love, her beauty, her laughter, love of fashion. She was a community barber and hair stylist for anyone that stopped by. She enjoyed dressing all the children for Halloween and proms. She was an artist particularly in crafts and playing online games. Polly raised many nieces and nephews as children of non-relatives. She especially loved to spend time with her beloved Dan Tso.

She is survived by her mother Ida Dickenson and loving stepfather Frank Dickenson,

Brothers James Dickenson, Gary Chaboyea, Arnold Chaboyea,

Sisters Karen Chaboyea, Wilhelmina Cobenais, Kathy Chaboyea, Muriel Dickenson, Kim Baker, Rhonda Desjarlait, Shelda Dickenson, Debbie Chaboyea, Connie Chaboyea, Dorla Chaboyea, Shelly Chaboyea, and her beloved Dan Tso.

Polly will be loved and missed by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her father David Chaboyea, and brother Marlin Dickenson.

Honorary Casketbearers will be Karen Good, Shelly English, Jo Tallchief, Shawna Strong.

Active Casketbearers will be Daniel Tso, Jeremy Tso, Gary Chaboyea, David Head, Geoffrey Pierre, Henry Donnell Jr, Dana Lyons, Aaron Baker, Jeremy Neadeau, Robert Head III, Michael Head Jr., Gary Chaboyea Jr. with alternates - Arnie Chaboyea, Willow Cobenais, Ciarra Baker, Chase Baker, and Kachine Head.
