Michael Allen Runningshield, age 37, of Minneapolis, MN journeyed to the Spirit World on August 9, 2016.

He was born on July 16, 1979 in Mobridge, SD the son of Frank Runningshield Sr. and Isabelle BirdHorse.

Michael enjoyed playing cards and games, especially Rummy 500, the dice game 10,000 and Spades. He liked spending time with his family and friends, especially his long-time girlfriend Barb Lewis. He enjoyed visiting with his kids and he took care of his mother while she was still alive. He always put others first and he helped others without expectations. Michael loved to laugh and always had a smile on his face, he enjoyed joking and having fun. He also enjoyed the outdoors, listening to music and telling stories. He had a big heart and a free spirit!

Preceded in death by his mother Isabelle BirdHorse.

He is survived by his father; longtime girlfriend Barb Lewis; children Michael Runningshield, Matthew Runningshield, Mercedes Runningshield and Alliyanah Feather; brothers Frank Runningshield, Matthew Runningshield, Ryan BirdHorse and Asher BirdHorse; sisters Valerie Runningshield and Francelle Runningshield; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Michael Runningshield will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at All Saints Episcopal Church, 3044 Longfellow Avenue, Minneapolis, MN from 5:00 – 11 PM. Johnson Loud will officiate. A light meal will be served at 8 PM. Further services will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Oster Funeral Home in Mobridge, SD from 11 AM – 1 PM. Taylor Oster will officiate.

Interment at Bird Horse Family Cemetery, Mobridge, SD.

Honorary Casket Bearers are Barbara Lewis, Marilyn Demarrias, Colleen Iron Thunder, June BirdHorse, Anna BirdHorse, Rose BirdHorse, Gina BirdHorse, Reginald BirdHorse Jr., and Gloria Cadotte.

Casket Bearers are Frank Runningshield, Ryan BirdHorse, Matt Runningshield, Karessa BirdHorse, Asher BirdHorse, Valerie Runningshield, and Francelle Runningshield.
