PRIMARY FUNCTION:

To provide short-term intensive family preservation services to prevent removal or facilitate reunification once removal has occurred. Family & Children Services is a culturally based program providing child protection, crisis intervention, foster care, family preservation, reunification and crime victim services to the Red Lake Reservation and its members. Reports to Executive Director, full-time position w/benefits, salary; DOQ.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Program

• Case Management will include:

 Provide intensive, short-term services to families as requested by CP Social Worker, CP Worker

 Conduct ongoing assessment of services needed including: risk assessment of child in home environment and assessment of family dynamics

 Develop case service plan including goals, objectives and advocacy to clients on case load

 Information and referral

• Data collection

 Maintain client files; information, progress, activities, services, and correspondences

 Complete required forms and case records

• Submit monthly reports

 On clients served and their progress

 On program activities

• Meetings/Staffing(s)

 Attend all F&CS staff meetings

 Attend approved workshops and conference outside the program to enhance knowledge of child protection issues.

 Attend supervision, administrative reviews, screenings and staffing(s) as needed or requested.

Public Relations

• Participates in appropriate community committees or task forces as assigned by the Director.

• Provide community education opportunities as approved by the Director.

• Develop and maintain working relationships with community agencies, and programs.

• Participate in community, program outreach or pubic relations activities of the program as required or requested.

• Represent the program and Tribal Council at appropriate community functions as required.

• Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of 2 years post high school education with 2 years experience in Human Services.

• Maintain the highest level of confidentiality regarding clients and staff or F&CS.

• Experience in providing in-home family services, including case plan development

• Knowledge of the criteria defining child abuse, sexual abuse and neglect.

• Excellent communication skills, including writing ability.

• Must be a team player and be able to work collaboratively.

• Must be flexible in varied working situations, able to manage crisis situations.

• Must have a valid Minnesota Driver's License, auto insurance and a car.

• Employment contingent upon successfully passing Pre-Employment Drug/Alcohol Test and Background Check.
