Dale Clinton Smith, Sr., age 63, of Redby passed away on Monday, July 25, 2016 at the Red Lake IHS Hospital. He was born on September 3, 1952 in Red Lake one of 12 children to Abraham and Maggie (Standing) Smith, Sr.

Dale was happy guy who loved teasing people was always laughing. He enjoyed working at the Red Lake Halfway house and took pride in helping his many clients throughout the 14 years there. In his spare time, he liked to work on cranberry bark and balsam wood to make his many native crafts like wooden feathers. Dale traveled every weekend to pow-wows, where he cooked for many, danced and camped. He especially loved spending time with his family and his special friend Debra Lussier. Dale had great love for his children, grandchildren and his many nieces and nephews. He was a friend to many...and will be missed beyond words.

Those welcoming Dale home are his parents; Abraham and Maggie, his siblings; Mary Jane Kingbird, John Smith, Sr., Abraham Smith, Jr., Simon Smith, Rose Marie White, David James Smith, Kenneth Joseph Smith, Francis Norman Smith, Russell Dean Smith and Darwin Dean Smith and many other family members.

He leaves behind his sons; Dale (Anita) White, Jr. of Redby, David James White of Bemidji and Clinton (Winona) Smith of Redby, daughters; Leslie and Daley Smith both of Mille Lacs, brother; Ronald Lawrence (Susan) Smith of Fond Du Lac, his special friend; Debra Lussier, 33 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

A wake for Dale will begin at 12:00 p.m., on Friday, July 29th and continue until his 1:00 p.m. service on Monday, August 1st all being held at the Redby Community Center in Redby. Father George Ross will officiate. Helping to lay Dale to rest are Eugene White, Bradley Northrup, John Smith, Jr., Jordan Smith, Lawrence Kingbird and Kevin Jones, Jr. His honorary pallbearers are Calvin Kingbird, Clint Smith, Jr., David White, Dale White, Wanda Northrup and Debra Stately. Interment will be in the Family Burial Grounds at Redby following his services on Monday.
