11-year-old driving ATV in Becker County crashes, injuring nine children

DETROIT LAKES, Minn. -- An 11-year-old was driving an all-terrain vehicle with eight child passengers in Becker County Tuesday evening, July 26, when the vehicle overturned, injuring all nine children, authorities say.

The crash happened about 8:30 p.m. on 560th Avenue in Runeberg Township, according to Becker County Sheriff Todd Glander.

Chad Grangroth, 11, was driving the four-wheeled vehicle, known as a utility task vehicle, south on 560th Avenue when he swerved to avoid a dog, Glander said.
