Fern passed away on Saturday at Neilson Place in Bemidji, MN. She was born to Joseph Jackson and Jennie Jackson (King) of Ponsford, MN. She attended Pine Point School before she was sent to boarding school in Pipestone when she was young. Fern had many stories of her boarding school experience.

Fern married Harvey Roy Sr. and they had three boys. They lived in Littlefork where her husband was a logger. Fern would help her husband in the woods while also babysitting for other families in the area. While in Littlefork, Fern lost her son at the age of twelve, Kenneth Roy. Fern also lived in California, Minneapolis where she worked for a candy factory, White Earth, Cass Lake and Red Lake.

Fern loved to spend time with family, go fishing, watch the Price is Right and her Lifetime movies, do her many puzzles and crosswords, and sew blankets and rugs. She was very creative and loved to keep everything neat as she was always cleaning up until her health wouldn't allow her to anymore. Fern loved her German Shepard, Jessie who she took care of since she was a puppy.

Fern is survived by her granddaughter, Lisa Johnson, her grandsons, Harvey Roy III, Keith Roy and Ken Roy. Her brother William Oshkinowe. Her seven great-grandsons and great-granddaughters. She is preceded in death by her husband Harvey Roy Sr. Her three sons, Harvey Roy Jr., Kenneth Roy and Gerald Roy. Her parents. Her brothers; Lawrence, Irvin, Maurice and George. Her sisters; Florence, Margaret, Francis and Jennie Mae.

An overnight wake for Fern will begin at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, June 16, 2016 and will continue until her 11:00 a.m. funeral service on Friday, June 17, 2016 all being held at the Pine Point School in Ponsford. Mike Swan will officiate. Those helping to lay Fern to rest are Brandon Beaulieu, Vincent White Sr., Robert Beaulieu Jr., Chad Hurd, Chris Hurd, and Jerry Johnson. Her honorary pallbearers will be William Oshkinowe, Will Oshkinowe, Diane Timmer, Cherilyn Johnson, Janice Lorraine, and Billee Wenschlag. Interment will be in the Pine Point Cemetery at Ponsford, MN.
