Day Two: 6th Annual Red Lake Nation Elder's Conference held in Red Lake - P10

RED LAKE - On Tuesday, May 10, 2016, the second day of the 6th Annual Red Lake Nation Elder's Conference began at 8 AM at the Red Lake Casino Event Center with registration and breakfast.

After the Opening Ceremony, Red Lake's eldest elder, Gordon Bailey, presented the welcome and opening remarks.

A Talent Show took place, with prizes of $100 for 1st Place, $75.00 for Second and $50 for Third Place, followed by a Youth Showcase that featured children from the Red Lake Head Start Immersion Program, who sang a song in Ojibwe.

This year's King and Queen were selected, Murphy Thomas and Elizebeth Kingbird. and door prizes were drawn before lunch and the Closing Ceremony.

The event was well attended and was sponsored by the Red Lake Band of Chippewa Indians.

The second day of the conference is scheduled to begin again at 8 AM, with the welcome and opening remarks by Gordon Bailey, Red Lake's oldest living elder.

A Talent Show is scheduled at 9:30 AM, followed by a Youth Showcase by the Red Lake Immersion Program.

The closing ceremony will take place after lunch about 1 PM.

This event was sponsored by the Red Lake Band of Chippewa Indians.
