Ohohshecha "Ochee" Defoe (which in Dakota Sioux means "Badly Wounded") , 43, of Phoenix, Arizona died on Monday, April 25, 2016 at Maryvale Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona.

Traditional Funeral services will be 11:00 am on Friday, May 6, 2016 at the Ponemah Boy's and Girl's Club in Ponemah, MN with spiritual leader Allen Hardy . A wake will begin at 6pm on Wednesday May 4th in Ponemah and will continue until the time of the service on Friday. Interment will be at the Sigana Family Burial Grounds in Ponemah, MN under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji.

He was born May 30, 1972 in Red Lake, MN, the son of Joseph Cominghay and Andrea Sigana.

He was raised and educated at Ponemah Elementary, Moorhead Junior High School, Red Lake High School, Riverside Indian School in Calif., St. Cloud State University and recently was attending a welding school in Phoenix. He worked at Treasure Island Resort and Casino in Red Wing, MN. He worked in road construction as an equipment operator in Idaho and Fargo.

He was employed by Fann Construction in Arizona. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints. Ochee dance the Junior Boys Traditional as a young boy and sang with the Poplar Jrs. and many of his brothers. He lived in Arizona for 3 years with his wife and stepchildren. He enjoyed welding, construction, cars, being an outdoorsman, a social person and a KISS fan, football, baseball, Pow-wow dancing and music, and making jewelry.

He is survived by his son- Aaron David Johnson of Redby, MN,

daughter- Reyna Oralee Defoe of Bloomington, MN,

mother and stepfather- Andrea (Robert) St. John of Moorhead,

wife- Jennifer Whiterock of Tonalea, Arizona,

siblings – Richard "Opi" Defoe of Red Lake,

Brooke "Pia" Defoe of Red Lake,

Hupan "Edith" St. John of Moorhead,

Owi-dusna-waste-win "Esther" St. John of Moorhead,

Andrew "Chaske" St. John of Moorhead,

He was preceded in death by his daughter- Pta Ska Win Defoe, sister- Opoganwin Celeste St. John, brother- William Cominghay and sister – Joyce Cominghay, and his maternal grandparents – Andrew and Edith (Youpee) Sigana and paternal grandparents Joseph and Elizabeth (Redday) Cominghay.

Honorary Casketbearers are Chris Greene, Junior Kirk, Vanessa Kirk, Fidel Kirk, Terry St. John, Gee Yellowbird, Carlos Casarez, Charles Johnson, Byron "Barney" Downwind, Conrad Kingbird, Kevin Gibbs, Jimmy John Chase, David Granodos, Alex Thornhill, and Patrick Blanchard.

Ohchi I called him OT or 99. Like the old movie Maxwell Smart I worked with him at Fann contruction. 10-9 he call me. I'd keep repeating. So he called 10-9. Good man I'll miss his smile.
