Sandra Jean Kingbird, "Agashewid-waawaashkeshi" which means "Little Deer", age 44, of Ponemah, passed away at her home on Thursday, February 4, 2016. She was born on May 5, 1971 in St. Paul, the daughter of Kenneth and Olive (Johnson) Kingbird.

Sandra grew up around the Ponemah and Red Lake area. She graduated from Red Lake High School in 1989 and went to college where she obtain degrees in Clerical Support, Administrative Support, General Business and Business Microcomputer Applications. She also received her Culinary Arts Diploma from the Hubert H. Humphrey Job Corps Center and enjoyed feeding people with her cooking talent.

Sandra loved to visit with her family and friends. She enjoyed watching crime shows, scary movies and dancing to Chris Brown. In her spare time she would read, and work on puzzles.

The family that Sandra joins again are her parents; Kenneth and Olive, her lifelong partner; Warren Greenleaf, Jr., brothers; Kenneth Kingbird, Jr. and Michael James Kingbird, sisters; Lisa Ann Kingbird and Karen Lynn Kingbird.

Those she leaves behind to cherish her memory are her son; Adam Kingbird of Red Lake, daughters; Hilary (Mitchell Gossman) Kingbird of Remer and Alexa (Tim Wolter) Kingbird also of Remer. Brother; Clayton Kingbird of Ponemah and one sister Debra (Harold "Zob" Graves) Kingbird of Red Lake.

A wake for Sandra will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 8, 2016 and will continue until the 10:00 a.m. service on Wednesday, February 10, all held at the Boys and Girls Club in Ponemah. Spiritual advisor will be Steve Jackson. Pallbearers for Sandra will be Gerald Kingbird, Sr., Andrew Kingbird, Jason Graves, Doug Buckanaga, Kelly Kingbird, Zachary Kingbird, Mitchell Gossman, and Michael Cobenais. Honorary pallbearers will be Shirley Kingbird, Patty Kingbird, Patty Owens, Samantha Cloud, Tara Cloud, Melody Strong, Harold Raincloud, Jr., Daniel Raincloud, Adam Kingbird, Bonita Kingbird, Clarissa Strong, Marissa Kingbird, Debra Kingbird and Tracey Kingbird. Interment will be held in the Kingbird Family Burial Grounds at Ponemah following the service.
