Steven Larry Gulbranson, 62, of Shevlin, Minnesota died on Sunday, January 10, 2016 after a long battle with cancer at his residence in Shevlin, MN surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 15, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Leonard, MN with the Reverend Robert Kirchman officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, January 14, from 5:00 – 7:00 with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at the Cease Family Funeral Home Chapel in Bagley. Interment will be at the Norway Lake Cemetery at Leonard, Minnesota. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted the family with arrangements.

Steven was born on January 13, 1953 in Bagley, MN to Gilmer Gulbranson and Helen (George) Gulbranson Mathison. He attended Happy Hollow School in Holst Township through 5th grade and graduated from Clearbrook High School in 1971. Steven married Linda Lewis on May 11, 1974 in Bagley, MN. Steven worked as a Heavy equipment operator for various companies until he retired in 2014. He was a member of the Local 49 Operating Engineers as well as a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Leonard, MN. Steve loved hunting, fishing, watching football, and tinkering in his shop, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Gulbranson of Shevlin, MN; his daughter, Michele Beckett of Pequot Lakes, MN; his son, Matthew Gulbranson (Ali Silver) of Moorhead, MN; his grandchildren, Spencer Beckett of Garrison, MN, Alyssa (Jake) Pegel of Brainerd, MN, and Owen Beckett of Pequot Lakes, MN; his great grandson, Colter Beckett of Garrison, MN; his sisters, Donna (Gordy) Solberg of Leonard, MN, Alice Cassibo of Gonvick, MN, Sharon Lang of Coon Rapids, MN, Karen Jorgenson of Clearbrook, MN, Sandra (Rich) Dombeck of Hawley, MN, Nancy (Byron) Edevold of Bagley, MN, and Tammye (Mike) Cleveland of Woodbury, MN; his brothers, Gilmer (Bonnie) Gulbranson of Crystal, MN, Gary (Alice) Gulbranson of Eagan, MN, and Robert Gulbranson of Albuquerque, NM; his mother-in-law, Alice Lewis of Bagley, MN; his brothers-in-law, Alroy (Debbie) Lewis of Bagley, MN and Duane (Lori) Lewis of Bagley, MN; his sisters-in-law, Mary Lewis of Bagley, MN, Patty (Joe) Swenson of Bagley, MN, Bonnie (Clint) Klein of Park River, ND, and Lynette (Todd) Halvorson of Bagley, MN; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Gulbranson Mathison; his father, Gilmer Gulbranson; his sister, Laurie Hanson; his step-father, Melvin Mathison; his brothers-in-laws, Gerald Halvorson, James Rouland, Iver Cassibo, and Charles Jorgenson; his sister-in-law, Brenda Gulbranson; two infant brothers; his father-in-law, Chester Lewis; and his nephews, Michael Swenson, Mike Halvorson, and Brian Halvorson.
