CANTON, S.D. -- Showing no emotion and answering respectfully to the judge, a 16-year-old appeared in Lincoln County court Thursday afternoon on charges he shot and wounded a principal in what is believed to be the first-ever school shooting in South Dakota.
Mason T. Buhl of Sioux Falls was charged with attempted murder in the first degree and commission of a felony while armed for shooting principal Kevin Lein in the Harrisburg High School office about 10 a.m. Wednesday.
